‘Living’ Room

The ‘Living’ Room Installation created permanently here at Green and Away has been based on a temporary installation we have been touring around festival for the past few years.

The initial concept for the installation came from the idea of urban agriculture and playing with blurring the partition between urban and rural.

This is part of a larger body of work we have called ‘Emotional Landscapes and the Edible City’. These are ‘living’ artworks consisting of conceptual proposals and participatory projects designed to test these ideas. We have been focusing on exploring the potential for the integration of community-managed agricultural spaces into the urban environment. At the core of this approach is an understanding of a sustainable holistic system where plants and people depend on each other for survival. The main achievements of these projects have been to encourage city dwellers to think about where their food comes from and to experiment with growing edible plants themselves.
